Yoga by Sarah October Newsletter

Hi Everyone!! We are making some more class changes at the studio that we are hoping will ultimately benefit all of our members, while maintaining the quality and the integrity of the classes.

Okay... please make sure you print off our newest schedule at our website www.yogabysarah.com

We are getting new schedules and brochures printed and they should be available at the studio within the next day or so.

You will notice on the new schedule that we have deleted a couple classes that have been having poor attendance.  My apologies to anyone that this inconveniences, however I am hoping that there are enough other classes running to suit your schedule.

The biggest class change is the Saturday morning time slot.. we are now only running one Saturday class at 9:45am (not 9:15am please note!!).  We are hoping that this accommodates people a little better for those who don't like to get up too early on Saturday morning!!  Please notice that this class is now being taught by myself and Cathy alternately every other week.  Jo is unavailable to teach Saturday mornings from now to Christmas, but she is still teaching her usual Monday evening and Wednesday morning classes for those of you who will miss her!!  This Saturday morning class is now being labelled as a Hatha Level 2 - so it is designed for the continuing yogi who have a good grasp of the basic yoga poses.  So, don't be frightened by the Level 2 label, as always you are encouraged to work at your pace and take a break when you need to.

You will notice that we are now offering Pre-Registered Classes for Beginners (which you can get information about on the website www.yogabysarah.com )

We are offering 6 week pre-registered courses designed for the beginner yoga practitioner.  We are offering a Hatha Yoga for Beginners on Tuesday evenings at 8:10pm and a Power Yoga for Beginners on Thursday evenings at 8:10pm.  These pre-registered 6 week courses commence the week of November 11 and finish up the week before Christmas.  These courses run in a progressive manner, with week number one we assume you know nothing and we gradually add on every week.  By the end of the 6 week course, you will have a good foundation to work with and can safely join in the "regular" drop-in class schedule.  You will notice that we have a member and non-member rate for these courses,  so that way it is good for brand new people just getting interested in yoga and want a good place to start as well as for those of you who are already members and may want a little deeper foundation in the Hatha Yoga or have been wanting to get into Power Yoga and have been intimidated by it.

When viewing the updated website, you may want to look at the new workshops that we have added on.  Two workshops that I will be running are:

Yoga for the Back, Neck and Shoulders Workshop on Saturday November 23 from 1p-4pm

Backbend and Inversion Workshop on Saturday November 9 from 1p-3:30p (I am really excited about this one!!)

This workshop is designed for the intermediate student who is interested in challenging their practice - we will go over in detail some traditional backbends and inversions, working with props, etc.  This one will be really fun!!

We have also added an Introduction to Bellydancing Workshop on Saturday November 30 from 1p-4p.  This workshop will be led by Kathleen Boldt also known as Kassia.  Kathleen is also a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor, so she can bring some yogic perspective to this ancient dance.  This should definitely be a popular workshop, so make sure you register early!!

The workshops are open to both members and non-members of the studio, so feel free to have any friends or family members register.  Often times a workshop would be a good introduction to yoga for those who have been wanting to try it, or for those who can not commit to weekly classes.

On another note:  There will be no 6:50pm class on Halloween, Thursday October 31, 2002.  All other classes that day will remain the same.. (so yes, there is a 5:30pm class).

Lastly... Thank you to all our members and students who have been faithfully supporting Yoga by Sarah.  Since moving and opening the new studio in January, we have gone through and are still going through some growing pains, learning, seeing what works, what doesn't, making changes... this is a learning process for me and for all of us... so thank you for your continued support and smiles.  I always love to hear from you.. so please feel free to call or email me with any questions, comments or suggestions...I can only make the changes based on my own observations and experiences and the feedback I get from you.

You have been my greatest teachers and I am eternally grateful...
