A fool is happy when his cravings are satisfied. A warrior is happy without reason. That is what makes happiness the ultimate discipline. Happiness is the only power that counts. And you cannot attain happiness, it attains you, but only after your surrender everything else. Act happy, feel happy, be happy without a reason in the world. Then you can love, and do what you will. -Credit to Dan Millman - Way of the Peaceful Warrior-

Hello all my favourite yoginis/yogis!! It is the middle of February already, which means March is almost here, which means spring is around the corner!! Someone told me the other day that they could smell spring in the air - I don't know about that, but it can't be much longer!! I have been living without a furnace in my house for a week now and it has not been overly fun. Unbeknownst to me, I was having some carbon monoxide issues, so the furnace has now been "condemned" and the lines cut, so I am in the process of shopping for a new one. I'm heating my house with a few portable heaters scattered throughout the house and fans on low to blow the heat around!! It's been interesting to say the least, but luckily I escaped the whole carbon monoxide scare with just a few minor headaches!! I've been working most of this week getting scheduling done for our March session starting March 8 - so if you haven't seen me much around the studio this week it's because of that and the whole furnace issue. But we're back on track this coming week!!

Our next session of pre-registered yoga and pilates classes starts the week of March 8, 2004. Registration is now open. We expect spring to be a busy time as people are starting to come out of their homes once the weather is milder, so please be sure to register early to reserve your spot in the class. I have everything broken down by headings below so you can scan through and read only what interests you. That way you don't have to suffer through my LONG newsletters :) We have added more classes to the Drop-In Yoga schedule, Pilates schedule and our Pre/post natal programs are expanding as well... Lots of exciting things happening!! We are running 35 classes a week at the studio now!!

Our website is now updated www.yogabysarah.com with all the details!!

Drop-In Yoga Schedule - Now offering 19 classes a week!!

Finally, as you've requested, an early morning class! Sharon has graciously offered to teach a Wednesday morning 6:15am Hatha All Level class. This class will be one hour only in length, so that everyone (including Sharon) can go home and get ready for work. Please do not EVER expect to see me at that hour. I cringe at the thought of it, however you are speaking with someone who averages a 2am bedtime!! This class starts the week of March 8, please print the new schedule off our website www.yogabysarah.com or pick up a new schedule from the studio. We will give this time frame a try, we will need an average of 7-10 people regularly to keep it going, so Sharon looks forward to seeing you there!!

Men's Class???

I am entertaining the possibility of starting up a men's only yoga class in the near future. I would love to have your feedback. It would probably be a pre-registered beginner class to start. I am thinking of starting to market it the newspaper with ads that say "ONLY REAL MEN DO YOGA"- hehe - Let me know what you think!! Ideas and suggestions are welcome!!

Pilates Classes - A few new classes!!

Our next 8 week session of Pilates commences the week of March 8, 2004. For a full list of schedules and fees visit our website www.yogabysarah.com. We have added on a couple new classes: The Tuesday 6am class is back, a new Thursday 4:15pm class is added on (taught by Sarah Fournier's associate Karen Leckie) and a Friday 11am class which will be called Gentle Pilates. This new "Gentle Pilates" class is geared towards those who have perhaps been inactive over the years or have had an injury and now have their doctor's permission to start exercising. A great class for those who have been wanting to do Pilates but have been hesitant - everything will be introduced in a gentle and safe fashion. Please register early for any of the Pilates classes!! More details can be found at www.yogabysarah.com Remember that yoga members receive 10% off of any Pilates packages. If you are a beginner and unsure of which class to start in, PLEASE call us and we can guide you in the right direction based on your needs.

Pre-registered Beginner Yoga Classes

Our next 8 week session of pre-registered beginner yoga classes starts the week of March 8, 2004. As usual, we have our ever popular beginner Hatha Yoga on Thursday evenings 8:10pm and our Beginner Power Yoga on Tuesdays 8:10pm. These 8 week programs are great for beginners, as week number 1 we assume that you know nothing and break everything down in detail, and in a progressive and logical fashion over the course of the 8 weeks. These classes usually fill quickly so register early!! More details on our website www.yogabysarah.com If you are a beginner and unsure of which class to start in, PLEASE call us and we can guide you in the right direction based on your needs.

Pre-registered Gentle Yoga (renamed from 50+ Gentle Yoga)

This Wednesday morning 11:15am class taught by Jo has been renamed to Gentle Yoga. We felt that calling it 50+ was a little too restrictive. This beginner class will safely and gently introduce you to the practice of yoga encouraging modifications and the use of props. Learn to release tension, channel energy through the breath and stretch in a positive way. A good class for those who have been inactive or have had an injury and now have their doctor's permission to begin exercising. More details on our website  www.yogabysarah.com If you are a beginner and unsure of which class to start in, PLEASE call us and we can guide you in the right direction based on your needs. This 8 week course starts again March 10, 2004.

Prenatal Yoga Our Saturday 12pm class taught by Angela Sacco was really full this session, so we are adding on a second prenatal yoga class which will run Wednesdays 4pm. You have the option of signing up for once or twice a week. Our next 8 week session starts the week of March 8, 2004. This is a really great class, full of information... not to mention that it's nice to hang out with other pregnant women!! Check out our website www.yogabysarah.com for more details.

Baby and Mom Yoga Yoga for you and your baby!! Perhaps you saw the full page article in The Standard last month on our Baby and Mom Yoga program. This is a growing class for us, not to mention a lot of fun!! Angela is teaching these two classes on Tuesdays 1pm and Thursdays 10:45am. Our next 8 week session starts the week of March 8, 2004. More details and costs can be found on our website www.yogabysarah.com
