The Yoga Show
and Conference November 19-21 in Toronto!
The Yoga Show is back this
year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. A big success last
year with almost 20 000 attendees, it promises to be even bigger and
better this year with 32 amazing teachers, 75 classes of all
different styles and levels, and a tradeshow with 250 exhibitors!
Again this year, most of our staff and instructors are planning on
attending for at least a portion of the weekend. We hope to run
into you there!

Weekend Power
Yoga???
I have had a few requests
recently to reinstate the Sunday morning Power Yoga class at 10am or
10:30am, as well as a couple requests to have a Friday 4:15p Power
Yoga. I would like to add a weekend Power Yoga class into the
schedule, however in the past attendance has been so-so. So, please
e-mail me or call with suggestions on what time throughout the
weekend you would be interested in having a Power Yoga class.
Please keep in mind that we need to work around our schedule of our
regular drop-in yoga classes, our pre-registered yoga classes and
our Pilates schedule. I was thinking perhaps if we do reinstate it,
we could have a sign-up sheet for it each week, and if we don't have
enough participants on a particular week we would call you to let
you know 12 hours prior - and if you don't show up when you said you
would we could revoke your membership (hehe, just joking) or at
least charge you a fee to donate to a charity - or something like
that... I'm just throwing ideas out there - let me know what your
thoughts are! The more I hear from you, the more likely you are to
get that class added back in!
Ron
Mann's documentary - Go Further - starring Woody Harrelson playing
at Brock University, November 21
BUFS (Brock University Film
Society) is playing this film on Sunday, November 21 (I believe at
7pm). For exact details on the showing at Brock you can visit their
website
http://www.brocku.ca/cpcf/bufs/BUFSmain.html It's playing the
same weekend as The Yoga Show, so we'll have to rush home from
Toronto on Sunday to see it!
Many of you have probably
heard me speaking of this film - it stars Woody Harrelson (and my
new friend, Steve "Jedi" Clark!). I pulled a description of the
film off the Sphinx Productions website:
“Go Further”, the new film by
award-winning documentary filmmaker
Ron Mann, explores the idea that
the single individual is the key to large-scale transformational
change.
The film follows actor Woody Harrelson
as he takes a small group of friends on a bio-fuelled bus-ride down
the Pacific Coast Highway. Their goal? To show the people they
encounter that there are viable alternatives to our habitual,
environmentally-destructive behaviors.
The travellers include a yoga-teacher, a raw food chef, a
hemp-activist, a junk-food addict, and a college student who
suspends her life to impulsively hop aboard. We see the hostility these pilgrims encounter, and watch as
their ideas are challenged from within and without.
We meet an entrepreneur who runs a paper company that does not harm
trees; an organic farmer who believes Nature is his partner; a man
who teaches environmental activists to use humor as a strategic
weapon. And throughout, we see Harrelson test his belief that the
transformation of our planet begins with the small personal
transformations that are within the grasp of each and every one of
us, after which… we’ll go further.
This is a very
inspiring film which can change the way you look at things, or at
least reaffirm and remind you! The film is coming out on DVD in
December sometime so I do hope to organize a showing of it at the
studio with some raw-food snacks!
Flower Pot
Update
As you may have noticed,
the flower pot has once again disappeared. But, not due to theft
this time! The City of St. Catharines has come to reclaim it for
the winter months - it was still beautiful!! I'm sure the City will
run the same program next spring, so stay tuned!
Wishing you a Safe and
Happy Halloween...
