Guidelines/Etiquette

  1. It is best to practice on an empty stomach as the body functions with a lot more ease if it is not busy digesting food. Drinking lots of water throughout the day aids in the body's flexibility.

  2. Please make an effort to arrive on time as our yoga classes are structured with a warm-up, postures, counter-postures and a final relaxation. Come 10 minutes early to allow yourself time to sign-in and get set-up.

  3. It is best to wear comfortable loose clothing, as you will be moving around and in many different positions. BAREFEET will be a necessity to get the proper benefits of the class.

  4. Please throw away any gum you may be chewing and remove any hats you may be wearing before the class commences. Please do not leave your glasses, watches or jewellery close to your yoga mat during class where it may be stepped on inadvertently by the instructor or classmates.

  5. Please leave any footwear and heavy apparel (e.g. coats) in the designated storage areas during class. Please try to bring only the necessary items into the studio during class to keep it as uncluttered as possible.

  6. Please do only the postures that feel comfortable for you. Always be mindful when moving in and out of a posture. If you feel any pain or discomfort, stop immediately.

  7. Please show your "YOGA BY SARAH membership card to the reception desk on arrival and print neatly your name and membership number on the sign-in sheet.

  8. Please inform the instructor, if you are, or think you may be pregnant.

  9. It is always best to check with your doctor before commencing any exercise program.

  10. Smoking on the premises is strictly prohibited.

  11. For the comfort of others, please do not wear perfume or other heavy scents.

  12. If you are arriving late, please wait until after the beginning centering/meditation is done to minimize the disturbance to the class.

  13. If you MUST leave class early, please do a few minutes of your own Savasana (corpse pose) so that you have had a balanced class. Please leave before the rest of the class begins Savasana so as not to disrupt their rest time.

  14. Please do not save mat spaces for people, especially during a busy class. To be fair to all, spots are on a first come basis.

  15. We highly recommend purchasing your own mat for sanitary and health reasons.

  16. Please turn OFF all cellular phones and pagers before entering the studio.
